Deb Edwards, R. D. H.
I’ve been interested in dentistry ever since 9th grade. With some encouragement from my family dentist, Dr. Donald Carpenter, I started my dental career working for Dr. Joe Herbstman, a local orthodontist, during my junior year in high school. After I graduated from Danville High, I attended Lake Land College’s Dental Hygiene program and graduated with my Associates degree in Applied Science in 1977.
I started working for Dr. Basil Geckler right out of college, and stayed with the practice until 1980, when I began working for the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center as a Dental Hygienist. It was there that I learned a lot about dental hygiene for medically compromised patients. I’ve worked with patients who have had strokes, heart disease, pulmonary issues, and diabetes among other problems, and learned how their general health can compromise their dental health and vice versa. I left the V.A. M. C. to work with Dr. Fuesting in 1985 and have been here ever since.
Dr. Fuesting encourages us to stay aware of new treatments ideas and technology available for our patients. We attend many seminars in order to keep our skills above standard and to learn the best ways to work with our patients, their dental health and their overall general health and well being. We are committed to excellence in this office. I love working with the hi-tech equipment, our digital x-rays, computers, and soft tissue laser, to name a few, because it helps us maintain our commitment to quality and excellence for our patients.
I am also a photographer and work part time for our local newspaper, the Commercial-News, and for myself as well doing wedding, portrait and sports photography. Both jobs keep me involved in the community. I was born and raised in Danville, so that is important to me. I feel both employers are an asset to the community. I look forward to helping you attain your dental goals!
